Learning to Love the Light.

If you’ll excuse my language, film is fucking hard. Managing light, movement, and focus without any assistance is an exercise in attention that trains your eye and tests your patience. You are no longer racing to capture a moment but rather painting a picture. When I first got my rolls back, I hated most of the shots. Blurry, out-of-focus faces, light leaks, and an entirely ruined roll of film had me feeling discouraged from the art. But days later, I found solace in the imperfections.

I picked up my Leica M2 only a week before I left for Japan. With no time to get the camera serviced, shoot and develop a test roll, or pick up a light meter, I truly dived into the deep end. This was my first time shooting on a film camera, and honestly,

I’m obsessed.
